The Fairy Tales of Hermann Hesse
|
| |
I recently discovered a volume of fairy tales attributed to Hermann Hesse. I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts on this, or wished to discuss it with me.

I liked "Iris" best. Read also "If the War continues ..." which has kafkaesque passages and seems to warn us where we might be heading at the present if we lose our sense of reality.
"The Fairy Tales of Hermann Hesse," translated by Jack Zipes (U of Minnesota, Minneapolis), A Bantam Trade Paperback (Classics), November 1995, 266 pp., ISBN 0-553-37776-0, $14.95
Edited by Gunther on 04/05/02 05:01 PM.

With his tales hesse shows us another world that i would call the real one. a world where naturality and faith in life are leading powers. it has something of the taoist Way and the north american indian wisdom. it is a place full of endless possibilities, where everything's related - stone&soul, flesh&grass. those tales break down the fakeness of our materialistic world and reveal the real face of life. they put a smile on my face and give me strength to live on the same wonderful life full of seconds.......................you have to be 'MAD' to choose this world of magic, because then it will be you against the world of gray.
